Hello! Welcome to a new week. I want to preface this blog post by saying that I live in St. Louis, MO. If you have watched even a snippet of news you will have noticed that Ferguson, MO has been in the headlines for the last week. I wanted to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Ferguson. I went to high school in Ferguson. A few years before I was married, my husband and I bought a house in Florissant (a neighboring city) where we lived for over 10 years. We have lived about 25 miles away from Ferguson for 3 years now. My family however, just moved out of Ferguson this past February. They are now just 5/10 minutes from the center of what has been going on.
Ferguson has a part of my heart and always will. The things that are going on in this close by city just breaks my heart. Ferguson is a lovingly diverse city. In twenty plus years myself nor my family have ever had any situations that made us fearful of our surroundings.
We have friends that still reside in Ferguson. This situation is affecting them everyday. My cousin is stuck at home waiting to have his first day of school as well as many of my friends’ children. This is not fair to the community. They need peace.
The National Guard has been called in to bring order to the protesting. Hopefully, this will put an end to the senseless looting and vandalism. Please pray that this community will find the peace that they are looking for and that order can be restored soon.
I have a reason for mentioning all of this. I am doing my best to stay neutral in passing any judgement until all of the facts are revealed. I have been consumed in watching the local news, CNN, and Facebook. I wanted to let you know why I have not been able to post as often as I wanted to last week.
With the kiddos in school I am hoping to have more time to create, blog, and work!
My mojo went on a little vacation. My mind was too full. I sat down last night and I could not get past making the tag portion of the card. This morning it finally came together.
Let’s get to a Happy card, shall we? It’s time to perk up. 🙂
